Wars of Scottish Independence

Stirling, besides being important due to its geographical location in the center of Scotland, is also renowned for its battles.

The city’s history has been marked by two great battles which took place during the Wars of Independence (1286-1357): the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, led by Andrew Moray and William Wallace, and the Battle of Bannockburn, in 1314, spearheaded by Robert Bruce, future king of Scotland. The latter, Bannockburn, would be the beginning of the end of the Wars of Independence.
